"Lobstahs and Linesets explores architecture, culture and community development through the prism of Boston's historic theatres,
while continuing and deepening conversations begun at earlier conferences.
Architecturally, Boston's historic theatres
offer exceptional examples of most styles, reflecting many eras and cultural uses. Most have been lovingly and faithfully
restored. Boston's historic theatres reflect New England's rich cultural heritage from high brow to low brow, from high art
to vernacular or popular entertainment.
Pursuing varied programming philosophies from regional performing arts center
to first-run cinema, concert hall, commercial theatre, lecture hall and music venue, Boston's historic theatres have been
preserved and sustained through collaborative efforts to renew and re-energize neighborhoods."
